Description of Study:

We are investigating whether men and women sense sodium differently in the brain. Admitted participants will complete one functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan with a salt infusion. Participants will also receive a complete physical screening. Participants will be compensated $100 for completion of the study.

Will participants be compensated for participation?
Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria:

Inclusion:
– young healthy adults (18 – 35 years)
– normal blood pressure
– normal body mass index

Exclusion:
– history of chronic disease
– clinically diagnosed psychiatric or neurological disorder
– clinically diagnosed anxiety or depression
– blood pressure, anxiety or depression medications
– for women: irregular menstrual cycles or use of hormonal contraceptives
